As there a wide variety of folks here thought I'd chance this one.

Planning some work to the house and I really want to install underfloor heating. I know there quite slot out there just wondered if anyone had experience of different systems or happens to be an expert on the topic?

We installed this in an extension to our house in the UK. Downstairs we had a water piped system running from the heating system already installed in the rest of the house. The floor is slate tiled. It was great - a real boon and I wholeheartedly recommend it. If I had the chance to change it I'd make sure the cooler end of the circuits was closer to the entrance - ours was the otherway around so it is warmer near the entrance than the living area, but not a great problem.

We also had electric underfloor heating systems installed in a couple of en-suite shower rooms. Nice: very comfortable and easy to control seperately to the main heating. Floors also tiled in these areas.

We're going to have some work done in a basement here in Canada and the en-suite bathroom area will definitiely have electric underfloor heating.

I have put in underfloor heating in my house and I think it is great. I have done loads of research on the systems so it really depends on your house...

What is the floor structure you will be heating?
What rooms / floors are you heating?
What floor covering will you be using once the UF heating is installed?
What is your budget?

I should be able to give you more specific info if you can answer some of the above...

Turks.

very intersting Minda will PM you shortly.

Turks your questions:
What is the floor structure you will be heating?
Hopefully I understand this right, the structure underneath is joists with a void, there a slim chance that some area maybe concrete but not 100% on this till it gets torn up.
What rooms / floors are you heating?

It would be Living Room, Kitchen/Dining Room, Study, Toilet, Hallway
What floor covering will you be using once the UF heating is installed?
Wood of some type all round, bar the Kitchen/Dining area which would be tile or slate.
What is your budget?
Not really set one as yet, open to consideration as I have no clue as to cost and benefits of different options.

Now just to add to this, I have to live here during the work and have two young kids, and so the proper underfloor heating (pipes from current radiator) kinda of scares me, because I am thinking the upheaval would be major plus only working on the ground floor, so it would be a hybrid system don't know what that implies.

The real goal is not that I expect this to heat the house, happy with rads as they are there and is convienant, it more that my floor is pretty cold and the kids hate wearing anything on there feet, so it's really if I could take the edge of the cold floor.

Hope that a bit more info.
