Interesting car - Bentley Conti undressed.
Potential for significant bills but same can be said for lots of other metal.
Brakes I seem to recall being costly parts price wise.

The early ones didn't sell and there were some absolute bargains to be had.

Its a particularly bland, expensive to run, unpopular, odd engined version of the A8.
However it is unique..

Why why why would you get one think about resale values in a couple of years.

Each to their own.
but to elaborate, because I'm never interested in resale value. I always run cars as long as I can. last car had 250k on it and given that I can buy one of these for less than 5k it's about as low as it can go. If I get five years out of it at 30k or more miles per year then that's fine by me.

I recall being in a VW dealership when I had my golf GTi TD and they had a Phaeton in needing a gearbox, diff and rear axle. All being replaced under warranty. £23 k ........

I must admit to liking this type of car, plan and understated from the outside but ride, space and options of a top of the range luxury brand. Why not I say.

Looked at one several years back and it was a Dealer car, fully loaded with about 4,000 miles on it and was about £25k at a year old. I think it was about £75k new. Too much money for what it was, but still a very nice place to be.
We bought the X5 instead.....which though a nice ride was the worst car I have ever owned in terms of reliability. Perhaps I should have bought the Phaeton instead...
Hope your Phaeton turns into a great buy too....
