X3 3.0SD Swirl Flaps? Newer Oil Separator?

Hi All,
As some will have seen I have just bought a 3.0sd and wanted to know a few things:
1, Do they have swirl flaps?
2, Do they have the toilet roll oil separator? If yes can you upgrade like the 2.0d?
3, Are thermostats prone to false readings like the 2.0d?
Cheers

Done some investigating under the bonnet and found this:
Looks like the innards are missing

No innards listed on the car, or on the E70/71 with the same engine (M57 N2). Perhaps it was removed and the shape of the void and inlet angle induced a swirl vortex to spin the oil out?
Inlet manifold is not showing as having 'flap control' so possibly not. If you can get a mirror to look under the manifold and see if you can see a pair of thin metal wire rods connected to an actuator and 6 flap devices. If not then you possibly don't have them.
If the temp gauge isn't sitting in the middle when warmed up then suspect the stat.

When I opened the separator I expected to see the toilet roll version. As I was going to replace with the Vortex type.
Temp gauge sits bang on in the middle but so did my 2.0d which had a faulty stat.
I will probably change both stats when the weather gets better.
Swirl flaps again will see in the spring as too cold and wet at the moment.

I should have said I liked it up in Realoem. Mine (X6) has an inlet manifold 'with flap control' on the N57 engine so you may be lucky.
