Replacing front side/parking lamp bulb

Post by nujon » Mon Jan 24, 2011 9:47 pm

Thought this would be easy-peasy but:

- removed the cover at the back of the h/lamp unit
- unplugged the side/parking bulb-holder harness
- twisted and removed the bulb-holder
- rotated and released the bulb from the bayonet

- but can't remove the bulb from the holder as the (melt-fixed) reflector prevents the bulb location pins clearing!!! What am I missing please?

You have to replace the whole holder...

You are talking about the left one here - correct?

Read through the thread linked above...

Quick answer is... best to replace the whole unit, get them from the dealers (not that expensive) or replace with LED Markers from somewhere like HID's Direct.

You can break the unit you have if you are careful and prize it apart with a knife at the melt points, replace the bulb with a BA9s and then slide back together and glue... alot of faff if you ask me!

aw..... well never mind

Anyone know if any rear or interior courtesy lamps can be changed to LED (without any detriment) to good aesthetic effect?

So - I ordered a pair from HID** - arrgh!
  • 1. Checked their website to see if they were shown as in in stock (they were)
    2. Phoned their orderline @ 11]

    - then at 14:26, I get a 4th e-mail from HID** saying they were currently out of stock ?!

I phoned HID** to be told that 'they did not know they were out of stock until their Storeman told them so - and that they would be re-ordering 'soon' - might have some in next week'

I went for the refund option and replaced the bulb in the lampholder with a £5 H433 from Halfords - will wait until the other side goes and then consider fitting LEDs

Incidently, does anyone know of other (reliable) suppliers of angel-eye LEDs?

mm - bit naugthy eh - take your money upfront and then make you wait - HID** suggested that I would want to wait but in a fit of pique, I demanded a refund particularly since I'd paid an extra fiver for guaranteed, next day delivery!
