Hello all

Just joined further to buying a used X5 at the weekend - was all set to buy a new Sante Fe Premium auto (ordered, deposit paid etc.) until the broker jacked the price by £2K! - so whilst not the first choice, I hope I've made the right/better decision in going for the X5

Best Regards

Welcome to the forum!

Give us some details of which X5 you've bought. We'll THEN tell you if yuo made the right choice!

Thanks Sanj - it's a 2006 3.0l diesel auto - drove it home ~ 375 motorway miles from the vendor's place - ran very well with trip showing 36.3 mpg. Only apparent fault (declared by vendor) is the mirror fold function - press the button and the mirrors immediately fully fold only to fully open again! - yet to investigate (limit switch? reversing relay? etc.) but open to suggestions - will post as a topic in its own right

Sounds like a nice ride and the economy figures are good too. Welcome to the mad house :D
Mirror problem you describe is one that a few have had. I can't remember what te answer is, but no doubt someone with a better memory will :P

Hi nujon

Welcome to the forum. That is a good MPG reading. I'm jealous :-)

If you have the e53 x5 Sanj has posted a fix on the mirror issue. I'm on my iPhone and am rubbish at links on this but if you go to search section and type auto fold mirror you will find it.

Have fun

Penny

How ironic...

Here you go - come to the Bristol Meet and buy me a beer (if it works)!

Thanks very much Penny and Sanj - just read through the thread - really useful - BTW are the m/switches permanently repairable by your method or is it a temp fix pending their replacement?

Did mine about 2 years ago... Never replaced just repaired. Take your time doing it and you'll be sorted...

Thanks Sanj - I'll give it a go soon. I have a few other queries re. the vehicle but I'll post them on the appropriate forum - don't want to misuse the 'Newbies'

Welcome to the site, and wish you many happy driving miles in your X. I had a friend who bought a Santa fe and was shocked by the mpg....in the low 20s and not hard driven.

Hello and welcome.

I would say you have made a better choice going with an X5 but then I am biased. Does it fall into the higher tax band?

Turks.
