No glass broken or any alarms
Insurance reckon it was stolen to order using an electronic key hacker
Surprised they took the X3 and left my Corvette (but the Corvette would have woken the estate)
Always block the Corvette with the X3 thinking it would be desirable, wrong call.

Bad news, hope you recover it soon.
Unfortunately, X's and equivalent vehicles - in terms of technology- are easier to hack than ever. I actually got rid of the junk in the garages in order to put the X6 in it!

Cheers for comments
Insurance want all my documents and both sets of keys so they don't seem hopeful I will get it back
According to Police and Insurance they think it was stolen to order and it will be in another country by now.
They believe it was stolen to order because of where I live. My estate has has only one exit/entrance. You need to make a number of turns on numerous roads as my house was an add-on 'Close'.
Spoken to a number of neighbours and they are all shocked because of our location.
Waiting for the claims handler to call tomorrow with an update.

Anyone know anything about contents in cars?
As Tuesday I fitted a reverse camera and stupidly left my :
Halfords professional socket/tool box
Foxwell Pro 624 Diagnostic system
Miscellaneous tools
in the boot.
Also anyone know about add ons like mats, boot trays, mudflaps, detachable towbars, sun shades etc

You can but from a forum admin perspective I don't really want an influx of non owner FB related activity on here.
I would have thought it best for OP to consider what if any additional circulation of info should occur.
I am not on FB other than a work based account so no idea what FB groups might assist.
Just this morning I parked up and lurked around a forecourt to check a similar X3 with same colour & wheel combo .....unfortunately not the OP's car (this one has side badges).
The reality is that if (as indicated) it was stolen by someone clued up, then this car is unlikely to be seen driven around on its original plates.
If recovered it is likely to be insurance categorised (which many owners don't want).

Really sorry to read this. Gutted for you.
Unfortunately the truth may well be that if it was stolen to order then it will most likely been parked up in a lock-up garage to see if there is a tracker. If no one goes near it then it will be into a container and en route to Eastern Europe, Middle East or West Africa in less than a week.

Cheers all
Spoke to insurance again today
They have cancelled my policy and written the car off.
I sent them both sets of keys, service history, MOT and log book so I assume it is no longer my car...
The insurance guy I spoke to today says it is progressing swiftly and will be passing my documents to there assessor to value my car and make me an offer.
I went to view an '07 X3 3.0SD earlier and very impressed. Will start a new thread for questions about that.

I loved my X3 but I can't believe they took the risk to steal mine.
This is a rough sketch showing how difficult it is to get to my house:
As you can see there is only one way in/out. There are a lot of turns at the end of numerous roads.
You really cannot find my house by accident.
After talking to the insurance today I remembered I had gone to Morrisons shopping at 5pm on Wednesday and they believe they could have followed me home and come back later.
