When boosting wifi, you reduce the signal quality by a lot so usually it is not worth it.
My preferred method for dead spots is to use TP-Link equipment, to create a new wifi access point via the power network in your house.
This would work:

I use Draytek hardware (AP900) and an Apple Airport Xpress. Both are hardwired into the network via network-over-mains units from Netgear.
I have found issues getting routers to work properly with extenders which pick up the existing wifi and rebroadcast it. Password/Security setup can be challenging as some units from different manufacturers won't play nicely together and 'pass though' the authentication. Hence my setting up multiple 'hotspots'.

TP Link is plug and play though. Put one connector with an RF45 cable near the router, the other one in any power socket were you want to create a wireless access point.
