Headlights going off whilst driving

Whilst driving my headlights decide to go off, it does this whether in automatic or in on position. Sometimes it's one headlight that goes sometimes both. Can anyone help as I work nights and it's obviously dangerous when it happens. The spotlights still work fine and are unaffected.

Could well be the Lighting Control Module (LCM) or a loose connector on the back of it. The LCM is expensive and controls almost all of the vehicle lights.

Are they Xenon's??
Are there any coincidental movements??
Could be loose connection or ballasts on way out to LCM
On my old E34 I had to resolder the relays in the light module, but that admittedly was older technology..
