Time to change.

I thought I'd never eat my words but I have started to like the newer F15 against my E70!
So I went to my local stealership which I have never managed to get on with they have failed to sell me in the past new cars eg.E53 ,mini, and current E70!
Went out in a 40d X5 engine not much different from mine but the interior fit and finish was much better then sampled the M50d in X6 guise and found it much more vocal and alive, but is the price differential worth it I ask?
What options are a must have on the F15?

Hard to say, it depends on your personal requirements.
For me comfort, safety and being family orientated take big preference over performance handling etc, and as such my personal must haves are:
Driver assist package plus - with active cruise control, TJA etc
Comfort seats
3rd row seating
Pano roof
rear privacy glass
Adaptive lights with anti-dazzle

Thanks for the input I agree with what you're saying I don't have kids but dogs so 7 seat option isn't going to be on my list.
I tend to like the gadgets and going through the options list is a must but price is a major deal breaker though.

It's very much a toss up between what you want and what the next person looks for. Having all the options ticked won't necessarily get you more when selling used but will make the car more attractive.
Pro Nav,
Comfort seats
Comfort access
Reverse camera
Would be a minimum for me.
That said
HUD,
4 Zone AC
Rear heated seats
Privacy glass
Folding dimming wing Morris
Would be on my wish list.
As for colour the usual white black or grey are always desired with black interior as a safe option. I like the whiteish interiors as the carpets are black and help brighten the interior.
Good luck with the purchase and interested to see your final spec.

Forgot about the reversing camera - yes it's must have safety feature!
Comfort access is nice and I would order it again, but I wouldn't say its mandatory.
Pro Nav is std on the X5 but definitely get the Connected Drive services package.
Harmon Kardon sounds great if you love music.
I have the Msport so already have adaptive suspension, but would have ordered adaptive comfort suspension if ordering an SE
I negotiated a 9% discount late 2013 so you should be looking for about 10% discount off list plus options. Better hurry before the snow arrives though

I did wonder as I typed if that was the case. I'm a little out of touch on the latest standard and optional equipment.

Spoken to a few dealers yesterday and they seem to be eager to strike a deal but haven't gone as far with the number crunching stage yet.
Must have options on my list so far on a M50D;
Cold weather pack
Security pack
Comfort access
Reverse camera
Pano roof
Sun protection glass
Multi instrument panel
Adaptive led
Surround view
Hud
Harmon kardon
Speed limit display
Wheel heating
Lane change warning
Tv function
468 alloys
Service inclusive
Connected drive services
Enhanced Bluetooth 6NS
I think that all.
Maybe some carbon goodies from the M performance section?
Bmw have changed the options list around again having some items in packs which makes a lot of sense maybe due to pressure from other manufacturers?
Mineral white or Alpine white?

I heartily concur with most of your list!
Hard to tell if they are embedded in some of the packs but I would really miss:
Heated and ventilated multi-comfort seats
Active cruise control (radar)
Enhanced Bluetooth (although you can get the software parts 'for free' through coding)
I don't miss:
Pano roof - my E53 sunroof was noisier than it needed to be and only got opened in anger about a dozen times in 10 years
TV - a bit of a gimmick IMHO as it could only get terrestrial stations whilst stationary. IPad with SkyGO is a better tool.

Tempted by the active cruise and the pano roof is a must option on the F15 as it was on the E70 and E53 not yet seen one without, agree with the wind noise when opened.
My E53 had TV not my current E70 it's a nice feature to have whilst waiting now with digital signal being pretty good.
The options list is not finalised as yet still need to decipher what are important and what are a waste of £'s.

The pano sunroof is a must have for me - not because i open it but because it make such a difference to the light inside the car, especially as I've gone for the practical black interior.
Uprated soundsystem (the HK is OK the standard is rubbish), enhanced bluetooth, surround view and privacy glass also on my list. The only other thing I would definitely specify now would be a factory fitted towbar. I want that so I can put a bike carrier onto it, not to tow a caravan. My current arrangement of a roofrack and skids is less than ideal. I could see how this option would depend on your own circumstances though
Things like heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, HUD, soft closing doors and most of the others on your list would depend on how much spare cash I had.
Enjoy.

Getting to start negotiations and the usual "the cars sell themselves we don't need to discount" blurb from the salesman.
Rang a few dealers up and trying to gauge what levels discount available but only the Internet brokers are doing some,so may I ask what percentage discounts are achievable?
Shall I buy at the end of the sales quarter at December whilst everyone's only interest is Xmas prezzies and not cars?
Maybe just hang onto my E70 as the hassle of negotiations is starting to bore me!

If you look at halliwel Jones offers site they have a few m50's & more 40d m sports with around £8k discount but I think you will have to lower your options expectations, the longer you leave it in the quarter the better deal you may get but the available stock will go down, I got mine from them in mid March & got around £6k off mine with a nice spec.
Good luck

Just had a look on that dealer and as you've said there isn't any M50d left so it's going to be factory order thanks.

Try calling them, they had a similar deal on in March & mine was not on their stock list but they found one on the way to them with the spec I wanted & as it was registered before the end of the quarter they did me a good deal.
Just checked for you under the Chester stock clearance event they are showing a carbon black M50 with a £9k saving, may not be your colour or spec but maybe worth a call?

Many thanks for the heads up on the dealer will ring them in the morning.
Nothing in stock that fits my bill[emoji35]
Right just going over the options list again and past interiors were black but I'm getting bored with the same colour scheme and might choose the tan leather, anybody have different interior combination that you would like to post up?
