BMW scanner 1.4

Post by evoblue » Fri Jan 21, 2011 11:44 pm

Hi

I have been watching this forum for a while since buying my X5 3.0d Manual 05 facelift. Lots of good information passed around.

Getting back to the point. I have just bought the scanner after reading some information about it. What I wanted it for was the aux heat function. Works a treat now. I did fit the remote also.

Question is is there any other people got the scanner and have done anything that is useful. I thought you could program the seats to move etc. Possible just not found this menu yet.

I stay in Fife and if anyone wants this done give me a mail.

Thanks in advance

I have used one. Here is what I remember.

Tv in motion.
Beep when locking and unlocking.
Remove cold bulb check to remove errors with LED lights.

i bought one in december and added aux heat/tv in motion/flash indicators on alarm activation/changed parking sensors distance alerts.
however! i bought mine on ebay from a seller called amar_87 and after new year it stopped working. i have contacted the guy and sent it back for repair but to be honest, the communication from the guy is awful. i still havent had it back or heard anything.
seeing as how these scanners are getting more popular now, i wondered if anybody else has had issues with theirs or this seller?

I 've had no probs with both of mine  :D but i will let you know if anything occurs
I must say that when buying it i was a bit weary of the seller who had some iffy feedback to say the least but knowing both you and Lez had purchased from him and having used Lez's previously i used the same seller and am happy.......so far at least!

I've just got mine this week and haven't used it yet.
Just trying to get the drivers to work in Win 7 (32-bit). Anyone else managed this or have I got to find a laptop with XP on?

I used it under Vista, should be OK with W7. If you struggle you could always try compatibility mode.

Right click the BMWScan140.exe/properties/compatibility tab/run as XP

Guys does anyone have a link for the scanner might invest in it, my peake tool doesn't give live readings so would be nice to see how my big girl E53 4.4 runs :driving:

Thanks for the link I admit I have been a bit of a tight arse and gone for 1 from china "hope its not a bad mistake" but as this was nearly £30 cheaper thought It might work. If its any good I may sell my peake tool we shall have to wait and see!!

Do you need any other bits, or just the scanner for the E53 and E46 (facelift), both 2005 build? Has anyone tried it with Windows 7 64-bit? It's what's on the laptop so it should be OK in 'XP' mode too. Works with our old XP printer drivers which are all 32-bit.

swipe, mine was a cheapy from Chine too (£49 delivered and it turned it quite quickly).
It works fine although it seems to differ from some on here in that it doesn't have any leds on the main plug.

X5Sport, mine came with the main plug, usb cable and small CD with the software on, so you don't need anything else. I don't have any problems running it on my windows 7 32-bit laptop. I don't need to run it in compatibility mode so it might run on 64-bit as long as the drivers install, which I'm not sure if they will.

Forgive my ignorance fen66 - but what do you mean by 'added aux heat' w.r.t. use of the scanner?

if you have a webasto heater fitted under the bonnet you can add the aux heat function to control it to the computer screen in the dash. Similar.to the aux vent function only hot air.

Thanks fenj66 - probably a daft question but how do you tell if such a heater is fitted (location, appearance etc.)
