Oldie Saying Hi

Post by Don Coffey » Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:39 pm

Hi All,

I was an active member of X5 Drivers forum for a while but due to my last X5 being as the Yanks put it, 'a lemon' I moved away from BMW but after a few years away I find myself longing to be back in the BMW family. For me it's the mix of looks, performance, prestige and economy that just keep pulling at the heart (and purse) strings. In the autumn of 09 I bought and 4 year old 6 series which I and the Missis just loved but it was bought for the purpose of weekend run about and on low mileage insurance cover, as the running costs would be too high as we are doing 25k per year. So last October we ordered a new 5 series to replace the commute car - a Fiat Panda. We had looked at getting an E70 X5 but again, running costs just too high.

Maybe in a few years I can fulfil that dream, but in the meantime I hope you don't mind me looking in and maybe putting in the odd post.

Here's a pic of my new ride, all it needs now is a bumper sticker saying, 'when I grow up I want to be an X5'

Regards

Don

Good to see you again Lez.

I was referring to being from the Old Site... ;)

Being a very young 40 something, I hope it will be a few more years before being officially OLD

Good to here from you Don :)

Iirc correctly you offered me a lot of support when I was first joined the old board back in 2005 & when I was looking to buy.

The 5 series a fine car in its own right..........ironically I'd be tempted in one myself if circ's dictated.

Welcome back Don, nice car indeed, would seriously consider the estate version of that when the time comes.

Some inside pictures would be appreciated as I believe it to be a nice place to be in.

Hi Don, Welcome to the new forum...

Love the new 5 series, the new 550i is a very tempting machine but my sensible head tells me to stick with the E53 for a while longer!
