I have been offered some seats which have been described as comfort seats  for X5 E53.

The lady doesn't know the answer to the following questions.....

Are these heated as standard and do the seats have memory function on driver and passenger seats ?

Comfort seats are usually the whole lot - but, I think they're not necessarily heated on the E53. Check the spec of the donor car to see if it had seat heating or not

Punch in the last 7 digits of the vin of the donor car here:

See if seat heating is listed

OK - Errrrm..... If you can find the part number of the seat, which should be a 11 digit number (might be on a sticker somewhere), you can check it with BMW possibly?

I haven't got the seats and the owner knows nothing about them. Too far away to go and check the numbers if there are any

Okay... erm, is there any way you can get the number plate of the car it came off? I could have a look that way

Seat heating was optional on my E53 with Comfort seats.

Might just be my mistrusting, suspicious nature, but from the information provided this sounds like a scam.

Son has moved abroad and she's selling them for him but can't provide any information, sounds like a variation on the many car selling scams out there.

I'd offer to collect and pay cash on collection and see what the response it, my money is on you receiving a response along the lines of 'cannot be collected, pay money and will ship'

Agreed. Whole thing sounds fishy. First step, find out where the code number should be on the seat then ask her to take a pic to send. Also a pic would immediately show the memory buttons?

Turned out to be standard seats !
The lady was genuinely unaware of what style they were but managed to get a neighbour to send me a photo of them which established them to be standard seats .
