Replacement wing mirror glass wiring HELP. E70

Post by kay323 » Wed Sep 09, 2015 2:55 pm

Hello

Some C%&T done a hit and run on the X5 on Saturday whilst stationary at the traffic lights.  Thankfully only clipped the passenger wing mirror and broke the glass.  The X5 being my daily drive I had to get a replacement asap so phoned dealer who tells me it is £300 as I have the auto dim and heated glass.  Anyways, they didn’t have it in stock.

I managed to find a genuine BMW part on eBay which I rushed to buy and discovered when fitting that the connectors are different.  I have basically bought the non-auto dimming glass.

Not really an issue as was not really a fan of the auto dim as I think the glass goes too dark.  I still want the heated feature to work.

The replacement I bought is the same as the one on the left and old one is the same as the one on the right.  My X5 has 4 pins on the connector, the replacement mirror only has two.  I assume 2 for the heat feature and 2 for the auto-dim.  Does anyone know which two wires are for the heat feature?  I plan to run two wires from the connector on the car and solder onto the two pins on the mirror.

Thanks
