Hi Guys,

I really am looking for a definitive answer on what i need to code my e53,

i purchased bmw scanner from ebay but i can not get it to connect on windows 7 as i think i need xp.

Are there any other cheap systems that can code my car, all i really want is the auxillary heat option but i would like to be able to read faults and have a look at other settings if possible,

Thanks
Steve

Buy a cheap laptop with XP installed to use specifically for the car software, can be bought under £30.  Or possibly find someone on here  close to your home area who might do it for you. The laptop option is well worth it IMO

Yeah I did think of getting an xp laptop.

Tbh I'm not 100% convinced it is the laptop as I have tried a few other things and nearly got it connected but I think it could because it's a cheap Chinese Bmw 1.4.0 scanner tool as it just says connection error check usb or something of the sort (I will check again later).

I'm in the Essex area don't know if anyone has the ability to code round this way, I don't mind for paying someone to do it as really want to get the timer heating working before it starts getting cold.

Thanks again

Steve

There windows 7 drivers about.

If you have the Professional version of Win7 you can also run in 'XP Mode' with a virtual machine that is inside that version.  It's how I do it.

I feel for you pal.
Everyone has trouble loading the drivers for the scanner, I bought a second hand lap top off eBay  running XP to do mine, but most get it to run on win7. Great piece of software when you finally get it to work.
Looking at getting the iPhone wifi one for mine in a bit. Nice to be able to read error codes and do a bit of home coding to your motor. Hope you get it working without too much hassle  :)
