Compressor noise

Hello Folks
More questions from new owner. I find the car 40d 12 plate makes a compressor noise a lot - I'm assuming its to do with the self levelling rear suspension. The car makes the noise when I start it up, and it will make it four or five times after I have driven off. I find after I park up and lock the car, it will also make the noise.
Is there a compressor and should it be running so much?

Car is due a 'check' soon, I'll mention it. My brother runs Range Rovers and they have same compressor and he says it should not run a lot.
Will update if / when i get dealer reply

My 40d makes the compressor noise every now and then (maybe once per week) and its seems to occur when ever i hoon it or park it completely on the piss (i parked a 3rd of the car on a bank the other day and that seemed to trigger it. (please note that after finding this awesome spot the X5's doors are bloody heavy to open up hill
. )

I know this is a old topic but ive just been to the shop and noticed this compressor noise when igot out the car, it lasted for about 3 secs. Then on returning home It did exactly the same.
The journey is only a 10 min round trip never noticed the noise before.
I know a few people with 40d have reported it but is this normal
Thanks Glen

If it's parked on a hill/bank/angle then it will correct itself every so often.
If you notice it more than occasionally, get the rear bags checked for leaks and swap out. if, like me, you ignore it and the bags are leaking, then the pump will go and you'll have to fork out for that as well.
You can do a quick check using fairy liquid in a squirty bottle

Hi and thanks for the reply I think I will check the bags but there is no noticeable height changes even if I dont use the car all week.
