afternoon all, i have been looking at these android units that they say work on the e53 x5. see below

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E53-X5-7- ... 35e50498dd

has any one got one of these in their x5? if so was it ok to fit? also i have the tv part on mine working and wondered if the existing part ( came with the car) would work with the new unit? and last of all do you lose the computer part as in the mpg and timers etc?

hope you can help.

thanks

I had a Dynavin unit in my 4.4 X5 which was very good, can't speak for the unit your looking at I would try Dynavin's web site.
None of the BMW kit will work with that unit (or the Dynavin) if you have Nav/TV at present you will need a 5m long extension loom to connect the main radio plug to the head unit (has to be threaded through the car) Then all the stuff in the boot can be removed. My 4.4 was done as I had a faulty head unit and CD navigation upgrading with BMW parts was dearer than the Dynavin fitted + I sold the BM parts and just about broke even. You will lose the OBD functions though I did read somewhere that the Dynavin now retains the OBD, I would ask them.
The 4.6 has it all in and everything works so haven't considered it.
