Whilst I had my wheels aligned when wearing smaller winters the alignment specialist said best to get it checked with the summer larger wheels as can be different setup
My winters wore fine but the part worn summer I've out back on the edges have gone from bad to dropped off a cliff type wear!

I'm finding the 20" summers (RFT) wear faster than the 19" winters.

Same with mine, both sets RFT. Winters are Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow. They have lasted much longer than the Dunlop Sportmaxx summer set - now replaced with Bridgestone.

Vredestein Wintac non runflats (255x50x19 107 front, 285x45x19 111 rear) wear evenly. They are very flat tyres. Conti cross contact runflats are more rounded and rears wear centres and inside edges much faster than fronts which wear more on outside edges, especially n/s (going around roundabouts). Always inflated according to plate on door pillar. 3.0d non-sport suspension

That's interesting, as 2 months ago I had my 255/55/18 winters replaced with my 19" Summer Staged set up and within 2000 miles the inner edges of the offside rear and front edge of the offside front where worn to the point of needing them to be replaced.
Now I had the vehicle alignment set with the summer wheels on last autumn at my BMW dealer with their KDS system, I then changed in November to the winters and as I said had this tyre wear issue, so replacing the tyres I had the alignment redone and it wasn't out at all.....

If you had the geo done on the KDS system at BMW there in lies your problem.
The BMW specs are too wide, and the car can easily be set on the wrong end of the settings causing this wear issue.
You need to get an good indie to set it up to the MINIMUM end of the specs, ie 0.01 toe in on the front and minimum -ve camber on the rears.
