Hello
I have been trying to resolve an issue with my dsc for several months now
symptoms
abs kicking in very early
no traction on inclines
dsc light flashes when acceleration from standstill
brakes locking
skidding
codes state that there is a air gap on the right wheel sensor
actions so far
clear codes(wishful thinking)
cleaned sensor
swapped sensor to see if error follows sensor
brought new sensor
cleaned caliper pins as the breaking got really rough....but this was due to me leaving the clip off. :-[
i did a bit more research and saw an article which said a damage wheel bearing could be the cause....i had a flash back of me beating the hub back in to place when i did my cv boots....okay that must be it!
changed the front wheel bearing and still no joy :'(
any other suggestion??? The only thought i had was the axle nut has not been torqued down to 410nm maybe this is not holding everything in place.
everytime i tried to fix this issue the car would work fine for 10-15 minutes of driving but then slowly get back to the bad breaking.
Please help I am at my wits end.
oh and the live data streaming shown on my c110 scanner doesn't seem to indicate a problem

No but I have fluid refresh on my list as it hasn't been done in the last few years. I read the codes and got a steering sensor error. So I reset but still no joy. I know the alignment is out due to air bag, cc boot, front suspension refresh and bearing.

Yeah, that is what I am thinking as I get no response and different errors from the module when using inpa,gt1 and c110, so I will get the module repaired if possible.
I know of BBa but can anyone suggest any other places?

In case it throws some light on the issue or cause.....
A few weeks ago I had the rear of my X5 on ramps for a few hours...
And when I ran her back level again, the anti-lock breaks applied them selves with NO break pedal input... but on both front wheels & only momentarilly... then the issue cleared and never seen since.
When the it happened, the warning came up on the cluster.
Wondering if there is some other sensor that detects vehicle attitude or
levelling & plays with the ABS as a result...

did you use a genuine abs sensor, in the past ive chased sensor faults to no avail only to find it was the original sensor but the ecp/ebay tat just isnt up to the job of an oem sensor

BBA are the only boys to use. Had mine tested a while back and it was only about £60 from memory

Ok thanks I will try pulling the module this weekend. Gives me an opportunity to r&r the aux water pump and sort the power steering leak too

Yes, it's genuine sensor. I tried buying one from eBay and eurocar parts but they were not the same . I suspect these were for preface lift models. Still got one knocking about somewhere. Anybody want it. It's a febi?

latest update.
BBA reman send there were errors and I would need a replacement unit. £500+vat ouch :'(
i wanted the issue sorted so i bent over and paid up....I should have stepped away and di some more research as I would have got this sorted for way less.
anyway unit came with a hydraulic pump attached (which reman said was a mistake but I believe they ordered the wrong part)
contemplated sending back and getting a brand new control module with 2 years guarantee weighed up against reman refurb but with a lifetime(life of bba reman ::)) guarantee for both pump and module+ hassle of returns, possible admin restock fee BS and all i wanted is to get the job sorted.
I decided to bite the bullet and swap over the complete hydraulic unit from reman.
swap was fairly simple. I would advise people to take off the passengers wheel and wheel trim to get to the unit as well as removing the headlight as this gives you a few more angles of attack.
Trifecta and air sup lights lite up after the unit swap as expected.
I bleed the brakes but my right rear caliper bleed pin maybe lose as the stream of bubbles didn't stop at first. opening the screw further or tightening a bit got the bubbles to stop..went through about 1.5 litres of brake fluid working that out. oh buy 5 liters if it is your first time.
other brakes bleed fine. I also used DIS to expel the air.
Coded new unit via NCSExpert( I need to get a bit more familiar with this software...whilst not bricking my car )
Happy to say I have my brakes back. No errors returned...I have only done 100 miles but everything feels good, previously my issue would kick in after 10 mins driving.
Interestingly one of the errors in inpa was variant coding for ehc2. I was not aware of the link between dsc and ehc2
I would be very happy apart from the dent in the wallet and the fact that the strange transmission behaviour is the transmission are not due to getting bad signals from dsc....that is for another thread.
Oh I am also convinced that this is all self induced. I think I buggered the wheel bearing when hammering the axle back on, which then sent crap signals to the dsc which got worse over time. If that is the case tgen I am happy I fixed the mess and I learned how to get the axle on without pounding like crazy(small light taps with the axle socket works wonders) and I have new hubs and wheel bearings
