'08 3.0 sd - Failed Air Spring
Posted: Fri Jun 19, 2015 12:17 pm
I had noticed every now and then that the rear near side of my X was sagging somewhat, however after a drive it would level itself and be fine for a few days.
Fast forward to Mon AM this week, and it completely failed. The compressor would kick in and try and inflate it, but it was leaking as fast as it could be filled. So rather than burn out the compressor, I parked it up and called my Indy for a quote.
£285 for the BMW air spring, + 1 & 1/2 hrs labour + VAT = £560
The air spring in question is No1 on here:-

Hhmm - bit of research, and I found an Arnott replacement air spring in stock for £180 delivered, next day from here:
http://p38spares.co.uk/commerce/catagor ... l?name_zyx
2hrs sweating in the sun later (mostly taken up by jacking-up, wheel removal etc), and she's all done.
Very starightforward job, made even easier by watching this:

V Happy with my efforts, and my money-saving just need to keep an eye on the other side now...
