I have both - if it is just for 1 room and you have no intention at all to expand then go for the Bose - you could actually get one of their Bluetooth Sound Links but it means your phone being in range, or the Sound Touch (which is better but not as portable).

I have Sonos Amps for my HiFi and for Ceiling Speaker set-up's... also have the Sonos Sound Bar which is tucked away above my Kitchen cupboards so you can't see it but fills the Kitchen with sound.

Either choice, you won't go wrong.

Yes, its the easiest and probably most cost effective. Consider installing ceiling Speakers in Bedroom / Bathroom - guessing that you have loft space above both rooms? If so, you need to just mount the Sonos Amp's up there (power supply obviously required) and then install the speakers. Looks smart, but also blends in lovely.

You are going to Order 2x Play 1 or something else?

I'd consider finding somewhere that stocks these locally to have a listen... you might be better with 1x Play3/5 than getting 2x Play 1.

You need to think about where you can place them in your room - if you don't have sockets available then this will be a problem for where you can locate them.

You'll be fine with those - just depends how loud you like your music.

Sonos all the way. House is full of them, sometimes much to the dislike of the neighbours.

I have a number of Play 1 and Play3, but to be brutally honest I don't find the difference that much between them. They can both handle similar volume and they sound the same to me ….

Since I added Sonos to the house, originally just a Play 5, but now a ZP120 + Speakers & Play 1 I find myself listening to music far more than I did when it was on the hifi with CD's.  Sound of the hifi might have been better - but listening to some music is better than no music and those Sonos units are incredible for the size.

Enjoy

No need to lose the HiFi either, I have a couple of Sonos Connect units connected to my Amp so all is good there as well  :)

Spotify is great with it, one license, different music streams.

I have 2 HiFi systems with the Connect Units too. Works great and sounds fantastic when running through my Amp. I haven't got onto Spotify - satisfied with Napster...
