Would this do it:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Maxiscan-ELM327 ... B006JJZVQE
It doesn't say I can change settings though?
Does anyone have one nearby?

Right, now coded my mirrors to autofold and open on lock/unlock...
Why it wasn't standard is beyond me!

If you search ebay for this:
WiFi ELM327 Car OBD2 OBDII Diagnostic Scanner Scan Tool For PC iPhone iPad IPod
about £9
Here you go:
http://r.ebay.com/rCKqib
you will find the adapter and I used the Carly BMW app (£35)

Is your an e70? Do you have the engine running when searching for coding?
Do you have the model and year of build correctly selected in the app?
Engine diagnostics working for you?

All fixed now! A few tips to any novices:
1. Turn engine on then plug in ELM 327 wifi obd2 adapter (this was my mistake)
2. Using iphone or ipad change wifi network to OBDII
3. On app select the model and year of car
4. Select the diagnotic test and it should read and answer to all ECUs (if result is nil there is an issue)
5. Select coding and make some changes....
I now have folding wing mirrors and on the instructure obc cluster a digital speedometer option.
Note that if you are curious you can buy ELM327 from ebay (see splangs link in previous link) for circa £9-10 and download the mycarly for bmw lite version free to see if points 1-4 work.
I called the mycarly support number in germany and spoke to the programmer of the app called Parvis who was very helpful.
Splang - just to confirm that your side mirrors now fold inwards aftter you hold the bmw roundel on the keyfob for approx 3 seconds after the doors have locked.
Many thanks - a great result for little money

Guys, do you know if this kit/app would work on 2011 E71 (X6).
I'm mainly wanting to code the mirrors to gold in/out on lock/unlock as you have down but would also be interested in what else is possible.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Splang, Bubbabear and others
Thank you for this useful thread. I just bought an E70 Xdrive40d and didn't like having to fold & unfold the mirrors manually, having become used to them doing it automatically with Mercedes.
Having purchased the Carly BMW app for Android I successfully coded the folding/unfolding when I lock/unlock the car. However, I don't know if yours is different, but on my car I had to hold the "lock" button for a couple of seconds if I wanted the mirrors to fold, whereas they unfolded immediately when pressing "unlock".
I thought that was a good as I was going to get, but wasn't 100% happy. However, I found a posting on a US forum where someone had complained about the folding delay to iViNi-apps UG, the app developers. He was told that the app used to have an option to set the time delay (length of time you have to press the button), but it had accidentally been removed from the E70 coding settings. They advised him to use the E90 settings just to get that option up, and then code it to 0s time delay. I just did that myself and it worked a treat. So, if you have an E70 and don't like having to press the "lock" button on your remote to fold the mirrors when you leave your car, there is an option under Carly BMW for E90 to get the mirrors to fold immediately.
Hope this helps,
AJP
