A cautionary tale............

So, after being rescued on a flat back twice due to stalling, and after purchasing an Icarsoft diagnostic device, I finally found out that the problem was my camshaft sensor. I drive a 2005 4.4i V8. After much research I decided to purchase the GST sensor from ECP. After fitting it, which is an easy job, it ran right for about 5 minutes before the fault came back again. I ended up having it flat backed to a local BMW specialist who have diagnosed the problem as the camshaft sensor!!!!!!! I knew that!!! It seems that they have now fitted a genuine BMW sensor from the N62 engine. There is a possibility that the sensor sold by ECP is either faulty OR only suitable for the M62 engine. Either way, the sensor is going back. The moral of the story is 2-fold. Firstly, by BMW sensors! Secondly, be aware there may be an issue with M62 and N62 camshaft sensors as a lot of companies selling them suggest it is the right sensor for 2000 to 2006 cars. However, the OE part numbers may be different. I am open to opinion, but that's my story folks. Hope it helps!!!!!!
