Keeping your rear screen clearer

As the X6 has no rear wash wipe system (a stupid omission in my view), I have found that by using RainX treatment on the glass it does keep it clearer than with nothing on the glass at all. Other repellents may also offer good results but RainX is the only one I have. I've used it on the E53 front screen and found that even in spray conditions on the M6 I did not need wipers at all as long as I was doing at least 50mph.

Gonna try that tomorrow on my wife's car...
Agree on the rear wiper omission though - not even an option to spec? Mad...

I have found rainx works on front as described by X5 Sport but smears when wipers in use.

I use rear demist. it seems to get hot enough to clear any rain from the rear screen.

Isn't rainx a pain to apply? I've always wondered about this but don't want the chew with application and smears when wiping, as suggested here already.
Are the rumours true?

RainX is easy to apply, it's the clean up afterwards that takes a bit of elbow grease. Still it only takes me about 5 mins with a microfibre cloth to clean the matte residue back to shiny glass. Needs firm pressure, and I use small circular movements and work from one edge across to the other. The bottle says you can mist the screen with water and do it that way, but I've always done it dry.
Amazing stuff! I only use it on the rear of the X6 now because of stretching to reach to apply and polish off on the front screen. I also only apply it in warm weather so it dries quickly. You must clean the glass properly before application for it to work properly. You can buy it in a twin-pack with RainX and Cleaner.

I used it on the front of the E53 for a while and was able to travel on the M6 in heavy rain with no wipers needed above 45mph.

So if you reversed at 45 mph with the X6 your rear screen would be total clear

I don't think I'll try it on the M4 this weekend!! Methinks the Police might have a little sense of humour failure.... :drive:

No problem, just be one of those that miss their exit and reverse down the emergency lane.
Just you will be doing it at 45mph to keep the screen clean (or was it 50 ...
