Hi there, I recently purchased my 2010 x5, all the wheels had been diamond cut and in perfect condition but the previous owner stuck a pair of El cheapo tyres up front to get it through the mot. Since my ownership my wife has done a good job of hitting the kerb on a number of occasions and damaged the once pristine front 20" alloys!!! The sidewalls on the types are not strong, well not strong enough to stop the alloys from hitting the curb, the rears have Bridgestone rf's, the one good thing the bridgestones have is a very rigid side wall.

I was planning planning to replace all 4 tyres Shortly. I'm interested to know your thoughts on what non rft's come with good sidewalls or a decent lip on the rubber like the Bridgestone rf's preventing damage to the alloys.

I was thinking of falkens or toyos as I've used them before and had good experience. Appreciate your advise, what are you running?

i went with Kumho x3 in the end, they seem good. Also worth considering is Hankook, now OE on some Mercedes models.
