Replacement/Upgrade for X5 with non xenon headlight

Hi fellow X5ers
I have a 2009 BMW X5 M sport but it does not have the xenon headlights so has the yellowish light on the rings and headlight. Is there anything I can do to upgrade this to xenon so it gives it the white fluorescent like view? I actually don't mind changing the entire headlight but I don't think this will work, at least so I have been told.
Any pointers or advice will be kindly appreciated. Cheers.

I fitted 55 w HIDs to my E53 and LED angel eyes, the headlights were 300% better afterwards, go for 4300 K for white light and 6000k for a bluer light, cheaper than new headlights by far, took an hour to fit, but the E70 is harder I believe.
Check out HIDS DIRECT on EBay or the net. I got the 55w slimline kit and was very pleased with the result

Thanks for responding. Did the installation of the HID kit get rid of the yellow rings or was it just the lights that improved?

The yellow rings, ( Front marker lights ) are a seperate bulb which iluminate via a light tube, also available from places like HIDS direct, use the search button on the forum to find out more. Mostly E53 examples, but it will give you an idea of what is possible for the E70

Thanks Horizon
Does anyone know if I buy the complete xenon headlight, can it be easily installed to replace my current non- xenon light? Will this fit the base of a 2009 model?
Any advice will be appreciated.

I had same issue as you, I ran HID kit for a year and helped me out vastly.
I've now upgraded to Bi-xenons, you need to do little bit of wiring and some coding but currently I am not able to use high beam as my FRM doesn't seem to allow it with bi-xenon shutter. So I'll need an FRM module from car that had Bi-Xenons.

Hi X5 MSport
When you say you upgraded to bi-xeno a, do you mean you got a complete xenon headlights and installed it or was there some other way you went about upgrading your present light.
I have just purchased a H7 55W HID canbus conversion kit from ebay which I plan to get installed hopefully this weekend but I know I will most likely still have the yellowish light on my rings which doesn't help but at least I'm hoping the dim light will give the xenon effect.

Yes I totally changed the headlights, infact I have converted my X5 to an X5m which uses same headlights as an X6, though regardless of this it can be done.
HID will remove the low candle light output, i'd recommend 4300k or 5000k. They shouldn't dazzle on coming traffic if you don't aim the manual height too high.

I will be interested in knowing how you went about the upgrade of your headlights to that of the X5M and I'm sure quite a number of other fellow X5 owners as well. If you can give a brief breakdown of what was required plus figures around how much it cost, where it was done etc. that will be appreciated.

X5M conversion is not cheap, front wings, bumper, arch liners, arch flares, under body covers, side indicators, headlights, rear bumper, rear exhaust system.. Bolts together easily.. but buying all new parts won't see much change from around £4000, plus headlights, plus rear exhaust, plus paint and labour.
But to do bi-xenons shouldn't cost more than £500-£700 depending on what deal you can pick up.

Thanks for that. I will see how the canbus kit works out and if not good enough, will have to find somewhere/someone who can get the upgrade for bi- xenon headlights
