Hi guys.....I've been reading so many posts about tyre pressures and so many are running different pressures.
Please can someone tell me if I'm reading this right. By looking at the door plate..it's telling me 2.0 bar all round.
Is that correct? Seems low to me.
When I went to the garage to check my pressures today......the fronts were 33 psi and the rears were 40 psi !!!
Now if noticed the fronts seem to be wearing more on the outsides than the Middle.

My car is......X5 E70 3.0 D MSPORT 2009 with 255/50/19 on the front and 285/45/19.

Please advise.

The pressures put in are for a fully laden car.  If you are regularly running with the equivalent of 5 adults on board then that's the right pressure.

If not then 2bar front/2.2bar rear (28/32 in UK) is usually fine.

Those pressures are always quoted for OEM rubber and some tyres wear better at different pressures.  I also found that on my E53 because at the time I was in Milton Keynes a lot the excessive number of roundabouts wore tyres faster unless I bumped the pressure up 4psi.

Its just that 28 seems very low for the fronts, but i will go for that anyway(bridgestone RF)If thats what BMW recommend.
So do the outsides normally wear more if the tyres are under inflated?  As my fronts seem more worn on the outer edge but fine in the centre.
I just want to maximize the life of the tyre.

LOL I hear ya.
That's the reason I asked tho. If my fronts had 33 in and the shoulders seem more worn than the centre, then will it only make matters worse with 29 psi?

It might be cornering that does it too, or alignment.  These cars seem to be sensitive to all four wheels being properly aligned.

Yea I think I will get the 4 wheel alignment done very soon. At least it will rule out that.

Generally put in around 2.2bar, for the wife's X5. Its running on 19`s until the snow turns up then will put a set of 18`s. Hope this helps.
