I took my headlights off today , to give them a sand down everything was going ok , till I came to put them back on,  put both lights in , connected them back up properly , and  turned on the lights , no engine on just ignition,  it said check side lights ,my drivers indicator was on , both hids, came on  but no side light on the driver side, hmm , I thought , I cant have got them wired up wrong ,  re checked , nope all good,
decided then to fire the car up ,  it juscked and said something like engine failsafe, and it just clicked,
bugger :(
now , I re checked everything, ive done nothing wrong , tried starting again after 10 mins  im getting just a click, the battery is Very low, ill go out and check voltage,
I scanned the car using bmw scanner and ive lost 80% of the modules in there , will a really flat battery cause all these proplems??, ive no radio , no unstrument cluster , my sls is inactive again , and my gearbox electronincs  have errors

going out to test voltaqge , will post soon

steve. slightly worried now
battery has 8.65V in it
which is worrying ,

Its your battery buddy - charge the bugger and then watch everything come back alive. Don't worry!

Oh and if it happens again you may have a battery drain or coincidental battery on it's way out.

took, car to battery place today, and got the battery tested, theres nothing wrong with it , now I will throw this out , if you put the ignition on , and put your lights on (hids) how long do you think it will take before the battery drops down to a critical level. where upon trying to starting it the battery will have 8.5 v in?.

Unfortunately... Surprisingly quick!

Too quick!  Depending upon all options fitted the current draw can be a lot.

My X6 draws almost 60A in the condition you describe.  Low battery warning goes in less than 20 minutes.

Yes.  Connect via the jump points under the bonnet - BMW's preferred way to do it.  11.0V is a bit low.  Are you checking it when the car has gone to 'sleep'?  Wait 4 hours after last run, open the bonnet, wait 16 mins and then check it at the jumper points.
