Transmission Failsafe Prog - E53 Diesel 2004
Any one heard of this,
So, I'm wondering if I was leaning on the key button from inside my pocket possibly ?
Played with the open/Lock buttons and discovered they will cause ALL the windows to lower...
But the car will not start & displays "Transmitter Failsafe Prog" when I turn the keys...
**************
2-----Additionally,
I changed a few fuses in the hope of getting the AC rad fan working, now the Centre Console blower functions ceased to work & the cluster says the 4x4 mode is engaged !!
EVERYTHING was working before the fuses were popped out & replaced.
Any useful suggestions welcomed

First & foremost, before anything else: CHECK THE BATTERY and if in doubt, fully charge it.

New battery 2 weeks ago...
The issue came about since changing a load of fuses under the glove box for some illuminated warning fuses...
And fiddling with the remote buttons...
It went into this Transmitter Failsafe Prog mode and wont start now.
Wondering if disconnecting the battery for 10 mins will clear the codes & it will sort its self out ?

Certainly worth trying the reset....but leave it 20-30 mins, but see below:
The error will show if the battery voltage is getting low, regardless of it being new. With you having played with the electrics the charge state could be getting to the point where these errors start to appear. These cars draw a lot of power off their batteries even when doing nothing.

Hi Richard,
Is it possible that because a fuse was pulled - I swapped out the whole lot for illuminated fuses..
and in so doing, could the vehicle have decided it was low voltage, cos a fuse vanished ?
The alarm went off until one of them was popped back in too.
Regards

Any ideas what would cause the centre console buttons and illuminations to cease working ??

Problem solved...
Turns out to be some corrosion acting as an insulator on the fancy fuses...
Old fuses back in... and... all ok again... what a waste of an afternoon lol.

Your not the first to have problems with these fuses, I posted on one where someone was having problems scanning the transfer box, the LED fuse was showing it was OK but wasn't passing voltage.
Defeats the point really.
