Well... yet another item failed today...
Air Con Compressor siezed up... destroyed the crank pulley at the same time & sheared the plastic centre out of it...

Any way, meanwhile hunting for an AC compressor...

Lots on Ebay, various.prices too...
So, questions....

E53 AC compressors... are they all interchangeable...
Noticed, some are Hella, some othermakes too...
Why would an AC compressor sieze up ? ...
recently gassed  and holding pressure too.

But will a like for like brand interchange between a diesel & petrol vehicles... are they Year critical...

I have a 2004 facelift Diesel... and need an AC compressor a bit quick...
Any helpful info is welcomed.

The standard one is a Denso and used across a range of BMW cars as well as others.  Need to be careful that the rpm is correct as is the operating pressures etc.  If you look for specific E53 type pumps, some suppliers list alternatives that you can then search for on Ebay etc.

Might be worth putting the BMW part number in to see what else comes up in terms of models that use that pump.  Realoem allows you to do that if you search on the part number - make sure you choose Europe - and it shows every model with the same unit used, and by year.
