rear brakes getting no fluid on E53 2003 x5

Hi, can anyone help please.
I had new pads fitted to the rear of my x5 fitted about 4 months ago, everything fine for about a fortnight. warning light appeared on dashboard "check brake fluid level" checked levels and found to be slightly low, topped up and all was well. further fortnight same procedure and so on. topping up water for washers and did not close bonnet correctly, driving up the road and bonnet flies up and breaks the windscreen, in my panic I stand on the breaks and I think ruptured rear drivers side flexi hose which seems to tell me this is where my slight leakage was coming from. X5 bonnet and windscreen now repaired at BMW approved garage. Mechanic informed me that he had noticed on dashboard "check brake fluid level" and duly topped up. driving car home and noticed very poor braking, contacted BMW approved garage and they told me to return car. car up on the ramp and inside of wheel and axle covered in brake fluid. I proceeded to take X5 to my own mechanic and informed him of findings and he duly replaced flexi hose but cannot get fluid to rear brakes. not sure if he followed the correct procedure for ABS/DSC can someone please advise has to correct procedure. sorry for long story 1st posting on this forum.
