well , took the 4.4 into garage today for the rocker gaskets changing  (50 quid not bad)
got a phone call at 4pm saying got bad news on it , i asked Richard while he was changing it , to really check the pipes and hoses as he was stripping it down.
he said...
"ive found the reason why its drinking fuel and slightly missing , .......
the thermostat i had fitted has shorted out the wiring harness and melted about 6 inch of wiring. thus causing it to be stuck on , and effectivly running cold all the time, and ive got to order the parts,.  so , no car today :(. good news is too fold
1. its not costing me anything to get the new parts and fit them ,:)
2. i get to go to work on my bike instead, which is always a bonus in this weather :):):)

Not sure if cold running will make it misfire. I ran mine for two months without a stat and it actually ran smoother and more economically..
