Warped front disks...
Warped front disks...
I think this is a common problem no? They were new in August when I bought the car from BMW (so AUC) and are now warped. Any chance of a warranty claim do you think?
Re: Warped front disks...
You can try it, but you may find they are excluded as often considered 'consumables'. Check the small print.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: Warped front disks...
If they were fitted new at AUC check they should be covered , what miliage have you done since?

Re: Warped front disks...
Hi, I would say claim say wife had new brakes on her car (an Astra) at end of March 2014 and then in December she was saying brakes didn't feel right.
We went back to the garage and they confirmed they had warped and fitted a new set for free under warranty Admittedly she had done about 5k miles but there was no argument about it and the garage was an independent.
I guess if you had done 30-40k in a year they may say no but normall brakes do last more than 12 months
Hope that helps
Graeme

If they were fitted at time of auc they should be covered, when you book it in at your local BMW tell them they were replaced prior to purchase and you can feel judder. Hope this helps

I've done 5900 miles - it's going in for them to be looked at.

Have you checked for run out on the disks?
If you've ever stopped your car when the disks are excessively hot it's possible for some pad material to transfer onto the disk, noticeable by a dark spot on the disk the size of a brake pad, this alters the friction on the disk over that area which is noticeable by a severe shudder.
I've had that on my Porsche after a track day, solution was to remove disks and using fine sandpaper remove the burns/stuck on pad material, solved the problem. By the way I'm talking about tiny particles of brake pad, not really noticeable by running your hand over the disk, but it is visually noticeable.
It's a bit unusual for a good quality set of new disks to warp after such a short period of time.
Worth a try unless of course you can get a new set through warranty
