Hey guys,

Manufacturer's warranty expires this month and BMW has quoted previous owner 1267 per annum for extended warranty.

Car has no issues however you never know what the future holds.

So what has been your experience with Extended, is it worth? Price about right? Feb 2012 model

Thanks guys

Touch wood, I am not going to bother. Mine runs out next month.

I have only done 13k in the car though, if it was a daily I would consider it.

Previous x5 e70 4.8se I didn't renew the warranty and wished I had 4 mths after it ending the engine  oil cooler went pi**ing oil all over the brakes on the near side .

Total bill was nearly £3500 , had to get new brake pads as they couldn't clean them they said , got £1000 goodwill from BMW , and the rest myself , was only doing about 6000 miles a year if I was lucky .

Myself wouldn't take the chance again , but it's said you pays your money

Hi Mark, sorry for the late reply :)

my car is short of 56k, as I said I was quoted 1267,when bmw warranty called me told them it was a bit much but they wouldn't budge. so they had the option of 100quid excess or 250, ended up going for the latter 64 quid monthly direct debit.

What I found was that if you purchase extended after manufactures warranty expires, you will definitely pay more, anybody correct me if Im wrong :)

I would do it (and I always did)

Easily pays for itself in claim (and I had a few!!)

Also continues breakdown cover and replacement car hire etc which you should factor in unless you get it elsewhere eg your bank account etc

Hope this helps[/url]

This time, the X has only done 13k miles in 3 years so I feel it would be too expensive to get the warranty extended based on the current use.

My previous X was used a lot more so I did it on that.

I just extended mine for £990 and £100 excess. It was £1340 (I think for no excess). It was a no brainier when I was told the cover is exactly the same. I'd have to make at least 3 claims in a year to hit the no excess option so went with the £990. With roadside assistance included seemed like a good deal.
