Dartford Crossing - Congestion - Dart Charge for all.

The crossings at M25 Dartford are booth free now but there is number plate recognition in place.

All users are expected to pay by midnight on the day  following crossing.

Signage on approach and exit but not that noticeable , ( no illuminated message  displays etc).

In past when works in progress booths have been closed and free crossing allowed. The abscence of booths and prescrnce of works does not mean that crossing is free ( other than at exempt times).

Worth bearing in mind and passing on to family and friends.....many of whom may be more focused on staying in làne and /or avoiding being side swiped by larger vehicles at 50 mph !

The fees for non payment can be significant - around £70 a crossing I believe !

You can register for an automated payment account which effectively causes a direct debit to be linked to your vehicle but it costs £10 to initiate.

This isn't breaking news and it went live late last year, however some may find this info of use.

Yes we have an account at work so I have put all the reg numbers on there, well apart from the leaf because it would struggle to make it there !

Slightly off the subject, but in the same area,  a magistrate friend of mine tells me that the average speed monitoring cameras on the QE2 bridge, the 50 mph limit is quite rigidly enforced, with 20,000+ vehicles getting done for speeding in the last year or so:  Be warned.  ;) ;)
