amp draw test with current clamp-my way is floored?

Post by omodos » Tue Feb 03, 2015 9:57 am

hello all, Ok me and my starter drain story again sorry....final attack on this one, I did an amp clamp test whilst starting the X5 on the battery cable (and noticed it was hitting over 400amps in the 3 secs it take to start car)

only negative thing about the amp draw clamp test I did was I had to start the car to get to garage(after charging fully overnite with ctek) , would this starting up once and  hence amp draw caused by start,,  totally screw up the subsequent amp draw test I did after drivig to garage? as the battery is  was not fully charged at time?

Why do you keep creating new posts when you don't like peoples replies?

I for one am getting fed up reading multiple new posts (both on this forum and others) about the same issue you are having.

This post, you included 90% of the same text to one of your topics that someone answered 12 hours ago.

You are using too much current draw at start up, at least 150amps more than you should be. You are 100% convinced you have a faulty starter motor, so go and get a Bosch one rather than the one (which we know are extremely prone to faults) you have now.

Sorry to the regulars on this board that don't feel like I do, but when someone asks for help, then totally ignores it and starts another post about the same thing it just wastes so much time in trying to help, which most of us are here to do.

Keeping all posts in one topic helps everyone who is trying to help .

Don't worry, I think we're all of a similar opinion......

The starting current will not be dependant on the battery.  The starter will draw what it draws!  It's faulty!  Change it.
