BMW Scanner 1.4.0 - have I been ripped off?

Hello.

I've bought this off ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390878525270

and it arrived today.

The interface device is marked "Op-com" and has got a Opel logo.

The connection has 16 pins.

The mini-CD, that came with it, is recognised by my laptop as a blank disc.

Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated.

Probably sent you the wrong one and there's someone with a Vauxhall asking the same questions on a GM Forum.

If you paid via Paypal then see what they can do, or what the seller will do to get the right one out to you?

Funnily enough mine turned up today (ordered of eBay a couple of weeks ago)
Not had chance to use it yet but looks nothing like you describe - no Op-com and no Opel logo - but a picture of a BMW on it, so that's a good start ;)

As said, looks like you've been sent the wrong one.

I did notice on the sales guff of a few similar items on E-Bay, that they don't support Windows 7  64bit operating systems...
Wondering if there is one that does work on Windows 7 ?

Have a search on line for the newer drivers.  I think it can be made to work it's just that the 'copied' version of PASoft is old so designed for XP.

You can also run it in a virtual machine.

what happens if you open up "my computer" then right mouse click on your cd drive icon and click "open"?
You could also try clicking "start" then In the "run" or "search" box at the bottom type "command" and click enter.
When the dos prompt opens type "cd d:\" (assuming your cd drive is labeled as d drive).
Now type "dir/w" this should display the contents of your disc of it has any. Depending on how the disc was created occasionally windows will only see it as blank.
Any programs on the disc will be labelled with ".exe" on the end and you can run them from dos prompt by simply typing the full name including the .exe bit and pressing enter.
Sometimes you can trick windows this way as you are running it in a shell.

I hate windows

For the same money you can get one that doesn't have to plug into your computer!
My father-in-law has got this one - eBay item number:201099359082 & he thinks its brilliant!  8)
