As per my previous post I have fitted my new drivers side door handle carrier which worked fine for a day or two but now ceases to work
I have had door panel back off to check linkage to find all connected it's as if it needs another few mill of lift
Any help would be appreciated thanks

Has the cable slipped out of place and did it fit in to place with an audible clunking sound (best I can describe - you have to really force it into place from memory).  If it isn't, that could be where the play is.

Also, is the carrier flush to the door panel?

I agree with Pete regarding the plastic cable bush fitting into the fork.
I had a similar experience when I changed the carrier with the door failing to unlatch after a couple of days, the problem was with the door handle post which has two lugs that locate into the rear of the carrier. They were worn from a previous repair and were not locating correctly in the carrier. Ended up having to replace the door handle. Ensure when locating the door handle post to the carrier that the carrier arm is in the open position (pushed outwards towards the door outer skin), this prevents damage to the handle post lugs. Also ensures you do not damage the door paint when raising the handle to engage the carrier securing bolt to the handle fork.

Is the cable fastened at BOTH these points. I found these the fussiest points of the job resorting to using a breaker bar to tap the ball on with a small hammer

Does sound like the lower ball fixing has popped off. I had to finally change the drivers one and this was a pain to get back on. I thought it was and tried the door before putting everything back together and it came off after a couple of tries.

When I did mine I found that bit perhaps the hardest to be sure was right. The wire fights you and it didn't just "pop on". That's why when I thought it was on I got a socket set breaker bar and used that. I placed one end carefuly over the ball and gave the other end a (gentle) tap with a hammer just to be sure

Yup I ended up tapping it on to make sure it definitely clicked on properly.

Are you guys using a genuine BMW replacement part or is the Febi or any other known brand suitable? Seen a few of the Febi branded carriers going for around £30 but if they are of a lower quality (not that the BMW part is great!) i will just go genuine.

Mine was a 2nd hand OE ebay item

I have had 2 carriers off embattled now a pattern part and a fe I bilstein one and have found after a while they get play on the pivot arm that the cable attaches to don't know what to do next HELP

I have the same issue with Febi one

only i seem to be able to open door

i would reccomend genuine all the way

i will be taking my old one to a welder as my connector had broke and then refitting that one

I used a genuine new carrier. Comes with a 2 year warranty too so if it fails again they'll actually replace it  for free.
