Can't move the shifter left to M/S?

Just popped out in the wife car and couldn't pop the pre LCI shifter to the left on M/S?
Managed to move it whilst on motorway and tapping at it
But there seems to be an electrical noise when moving between D, N, P and not always going into M\S
