Sat nav disc error

I get this at times
Sometimes reinserting discs helps
But I'm guessing my dvd drive is wearing out as googled it that it can be quite a common issue
Anyone done a fix on this or even managed to out the newer HArd drive unit in the pre LCI?

Hi celica, I am beginning to experience same probs, lead to believe it's the laser within the unit starting to break down.

Mines a 58 plate 80k miles
So not like it's old unit

I've just had this for the first time... Mine's an '08, bought from a BMW dealer in August. Anyone managed to get the laser changed under warranty??

If you have full BMW warranty I think you'll be fine
Still looking for recommended laser change dealer

i had this problem.! 1st time they replaced the drive the DVD goes into, didn't work, 2nd time replaced something else, didn't work, 3rd time gave me brand new 2015 sat nav DVDs, didn't work, then last week fitted another new DVD drive and so far all ok fingers crossed.! all done under BMW warranty.
