Hi,
I've replaced the oil breather ( seperator ) on my 55reg 3.0d today, put it all back together & engine not happy !!
Will not rev & well down on power, any ideas ?
I've took it all back apart & can see nothing wrong, no loose cables or pipes etc.
Even running the car without the air filter in makes no differance.
Any ideas ?
Phil.

Update - problem now sorted :-)
After taking it all apart again (!) I found a vacuum pipe had come off ! It fits on the black oval canister fitted just in front of the drivers side wheel arch under the bonnet, must had knocked it when re-fitting ducting for air intake pipe. Although I must have knocked it off it had managed to jam itself under the tube it fits onto so it didn't look out of place ?
Don't know what this does but it doesn't half effect engine power !!
Engine now back to normal, 3 hours to do what should have took less than an hour ;-(
Phil.

that black tube sounds like the vacuum pipe which controls the turbo waste gate. with it off- the turbo would never build up any pressure - hence down on power!
had this pipe perish on my old 330d - thought the turbo must have failed but found split in pipe, renewed it and good to go!
glad you got it sorted.

Might look for this on my E70 35d - assuming the dea;er doesn't find a cure for my car's symptoms.

Was a bit worried for a while :o
It's unbelievable what problems something so seemingly trivial can do.
I'm suprised the pipe is not fitted with a clamp or tie-wrap of some sort, in fact I may just do that.
Job that should have taken less than an hour ended up taking 3 hours :x
All good in the end though & hopefully the post may be some help to others if same happens to them.
Thanks again, Phil.
