Hi All,
Just bought an e70, 3.0d, this is the first bmw/4x4 ive ever had. I have a few niggles.
How heavy/light is the power steering supposed to be? Mine seems a bit heavy, but I cant decide wether its because ive never had a big car, or wether there is something wrong. There is a slight whining/whistling when heavy braking or turning right handed? Any ideas?
Also, what tyre pressures do you all use, I have19" 255 wide front, and 285 wide back. I currently have 32psi in back, and 30 in front.
Cheers people, any help is much appreciated, mike

Re: Power Steering?
Tyre pressures are fine. Normally 31/32 all round.

The X5 power steering is quite heavy, noticeably heavier than on my X6 so I suspect it's OK and as you say it's just you needing to adapt to it - which won't take long.
Can't help with the whine in braking/right turns. Could be one of any number of things including wheel bearing, joints, sticky brake pad on one of the front wheels.
Someone else may have experienced it and gave the answer though.
