Warranty Direct - any value?

Hi... I've been thinking of getting WD. for nearly 200quid a year it seems like a no brainer with 50 excess.

Now... Although they cover bits such as engine, g'box, transmission etc... Is it really worth it snd would they cover both parts and labour if anything goes 'wrong'?

For instance... Is Vanos covered by it?

Hi there, i have the WD policey and touch wood no problems. I have it covered for BMW rates and also wear and tear. So far i have claimed for calipers, suspension bushs and finally a whopping £1800 for ac condensor.

Out of interest, how much does the warranty cost PA? It sounds very worthwhile in your case.

WD or BMW?

From my experience the WD one is between a third to half the price of the BMW one.  My E53 WD one was about £400 for a 'Luxury' policy with a £75 excess.  My X6 one is £89 a month with a £500 excess.  If
I drop the excess then the policy is £180 a month.

Had a chat with them today and it seems that as the car is 'used' [obviously] and due to wear and tear they would only cover 50% for the cost of parts. However both labour [up to £200 p/h] and/or any diagnostics will be covered in full. So not bad after all isn't it?

Have they covered it in full or...? Any contribution from your end?

Hi bud.

My contribution is 50% of the part due to age of the vehicle and the normal £50 excess.

Car going in on Monday for Gearbox to be sorted under Warranty Direct all being well. Box is being lifted out in Belfast and sent to specialist in Dublin. 50% parts from my end as over 90k. Will let you know how I get on.

Nope hasn't popped but keep getting thrown into "Transmission failsafe prog." Guys at Autotechnic in Belfast put on diagnostics and took an oil sample to confirm issue with box.

People in Dublin will give a list of parts and labour back to Mechanic who then sorts with Warranty Direct. Fingers crossed all goes well.

I paid thru the nose for this insurance against engine / box failure / mechanicals etc....
And it was a rip....
Unless your vehicle fails specifically in a way the policy dictates... which is unlikely, then you may as well just throw money out of your car window....

My experience of this product and  company is not good, and I would NEVER use them again. :(...  under any circumstances.

They will do you a lovely sell & promise the earth... actually, the tone changes if you call to make a claim...
Beware, and read the small print...
Your money is hard earned and easy to spend !

I've heard Warranty Direct have a dept that has 'experts' in trying to get out of any claim  :'(
