DAB radio issues

Up until about Christmas/New Year, I got uninterrupted DAB radio reception right across all "ensembles" (BBC, National, Scottish, etc.) everywhere I went. Now I don't know if "they" have fiddled with anything, but now it is dropping out constantly on roads I drive very frequently (e.g. nursery run) on stations that were previously fine (Absolute Radio stations, XFM, Radio 2 etc.).

Anyone else having issues?

Cheers
Scott

Not that I've noticed - but then I never go anywhere....

Have you tried a retune?  There are changes in both DAB and DVB-T (Digital TV) underway at present because of the imminent retirement of what was TV Band 5 which is switching to mobile phone use.  A lot of replanning and frequency assignment changes needed.

DAB is crap, don't know what all the 'clarity of sound' rubbish is other than government propaganda.  My DAB radio in the house is a hit or a miss and the car has lots of dead spots.  Try getting any station on the M74 / M6 between Larkhall and Carlisle - no chance.
Not BMW, just crap system.  >:(

I hate the DAB system, never get anything for more than 5 minutes no matter where I can go.

I'm having trouble with DAB dropping in and out in certain areas of central Scotland where previously it was OK,  my father is the same in his X3, my neighbour has recently lost DAB in her Audi A3 , so bad she's stopped using it.

Richard, I've been through the handbook and iDrive and can't figure out how to retune it?

Bob, I'm in Central Scotland too so it looks like we're in the same boat. What really irks me is that my Golf which was almost a third of the price, has totally uninterrupted DAB reception! I might play the daft laddie and go to the dealership to see if they can do anything although I think that may be a waste of time.

I think what Richard probably means is to go back to the list where you select the DAB channel from.

I have it auto switching to FM when DAB gets lost, but it gets tedious as FM is always about a second or so out so the same bit repeats over and over again when it switches between FM and DAB over and over again ....

Look for an 'Autostore' function.  Press it for a few seconds and after a few minutes you should see a list appear.  Not certain what the F15 calls the function but I'm assuming it's the same and is in the radio menu or options menu on your newer type idrive?

OK so the issue seems to seems to have fixed itself, it's all gone back to normal. Sounds like a temporary blip probably owing to the changes Richard mentioned a few posts ago. It's all academic though as lately I seem to be constantly having to stream the "Frozen" soundtrack from my iPhone...
