Which scanner/coder

Hi there.....I have a 2009 x5.
Basically I have got a 1.4.0 scanner that I used to code things like flashing indicators when you lock the car and enable aux heating etc on my previous car E53.
Now from what I've read, I need a different piece of hardware now as I have the E70.
I've seen several on flea bay. The orange coloured one called scanner 2.20 going for around £80.
What I need to know is.....would the 2.20 scanner do the same things more or less what my 1.4 scanner used to?
And if so....would it work with win7 or would I need xp again?
