Guys, wrong place really but looking for opinions.

The X is going, or at least that's the plan!!

Two options are in front of me both are rather nice and both attract £485 pa VED  :( but how do you price having fun  ;)

A 2008 my 650i Loaded but curiously no sat-nav two owners and 43000 miles

Or an equally nice but rather different 2007 my 335i one owner and just 24000 miles

I'm going to revisit the 650 tomorrow and see the 335  for the first time.

I don't have to commit to either of course but i'm genuinely curious which will find more favour on a X owners forum?

I should have perhaps added that i retire this year and one option is perhaps more of an older gentleman's cruiser, the other is perceived more as a younger mans sporty steed???

Just askin', as the saying goes  :)

If you are only carrying two then it has to be the 650i (and it's not just a gentlemans cruiser).  It's a nicer place to be though the spec without nav is a surprise.  They're usually fully loaded.

Does it have to be one of these two, or can you hang on a bit?

There is no rush but i've really got the itch now  ::)

These are the same asking prices so its all about the best place to be, which i think is probably the 650 for a single mature 'gentleman'

MPG on the 335 is obviously better, but running costs are not massively dissimilar.

Driving the 650 over the weekend highlighted just how old fashioned my X is now. Its quite unsettled me tbh. I don't yet have the driving experience of the 335 but will tomorrow so can compare them back 2 back then.

There was this option too but the car has had six owners!! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... to/3248406

The 650 ( in the link, not the first photo )is a BMW approved car so will come with a decent warranty, also the 650 will be more suited to you, as a 335i is more , " Drove it like you stole it " Motor, ( Sorry Raj ) if you know what I mean.
I would like either myself, but when I had my 840ci I always said I would progress onto it's replacement one day, so I would go for the 650  :)

650i although no interior pics, plus no sat nav - perhaps u can find a better example?

Also unusually low mileage - not sure if the cars have been idle for long, if so whether that's a good thing..

Long time no see!!

If the lack of nav bothers you there must plenty of other options out there.

If not looks nice

My old man has pretty much all options on his Audi but no nav. His view was why spend so much on something he will never use!!!

The 6 is more suited to my age certainly (imo) and to some extent my lifestyle but the 335 is the model to have if considering any 3 series at all.

Off to see them shortly though may end up aborting both, who knows!

TBH you can add a much better nav from someone like Garmin.  I have a 3598LMT-D for use in a van and it's much faster at updating than the BMW version as well as having free lifetime maps and DAB based traffic which updates every 30 secs.

The last BMW nav update I did has a number of errors on it with destinations via a postcode entry being in completely the wrong place, often by several miles!

The cost of one map update from BMW is the same as this Garmin.  OK it's not built in, but I can live without that...

The dealer selling the 335 called earlier to say he doesn't want the X in trade after all so that's now off the radar.

Perhaps keeping it a little longer is the sensible option, as some have told me!!!!

As to no sat-nav on the 650, i am inclined to agree with X5 Sport that that facility, such as i even need it these days, is better performed even by a mobile phone. It would be nice if the car had it built in but i don't think its ultimately a deal breaker.
