Post by DUS73R » Thu Jan 06, 2011 4:47 pm

Hello all fellow BMW owners!

I should be taking delivery of my first E53 X5 next Friday, Buying it direct from BMW in Doncaster, Looks Good! full sport plus pack.

i have found this forum as i was wondering the 'Must Know' topics on the X5 if anybody can point me in the right direction, also what to have dealer programmed ie the auto lock feature, what else can be programmed that may be of use?

Looking forward to chatting with you all soon!

David.

Hello and welcome

I agree with Lez the guide is good. My best buy was the Resler interface with Navcoder software as it programs TV in motion as well as voice recognition if your car is able. If you google these things there is a wealth of info :-)

But please ask away !

Hi David

I'm interested to know more about this programming being mentioned. A quick google swearch suggests that seat position memory can be set to each key and that this has to be activated by the dealer. Are there other options and should I request my dealer sort all this out before I collect my new motor?

Cheers

Sure folk can help sort stuff though not sure re the keys.

You are in best position to get stuff sorted for you now.

It all sounds amazing but in reality the personalised seat memory,(& maybe anti-hijack locking), are only things you're likely to use.

Exampes or Car Memory

Various signals when arming/disarming alarm.

Activating/deactivatring headlamp courtesey delay feature, (driveway home function).

Activating daytime use of lights

Key Memory functions :

Anti hijack ( lock when moving off)

Key memory recognises seat, wheel & mirror settings unique to each key.

When unlocking releasing drivers door then entire vehicle unlocks

Essentially dont pay for this try to get what you want for free..........if not others can help with resler or Jason at B&W can sort the keys.

Thanks for this. I've sent them an email as I definitely want the key specific seat etc position memory option and the anti-hijack.

Thank you for all the welcome comments :-) I think I could be spending quite a bit of time on here!

I am having the full list of programmable options sent over from the dealer so I'll be sure to post it on here, maybe I'll show you a thing or two ;-)

I am very interested in doing/having done the remote start I've seen the thread for. Can it be done on mine?

David.

Thought I'd add this. I might have missed some.

Car Memory:

Various signals to confirm that the car has been locked/unlocked.

Deactivating/activating the headlight courtesy delay function.

Deactivating/activating daytime running lights.

Adjusting the units of measurement for the display of outside temperature and distance driven in the instrument cluster.

Check control and computer information language.

Sensitivity of driving lights control adjustment.

Key Memory:

Locking the vehicle after driving off.

Automatic adjustment of the driver’s seat, outside mirror and steering position to the key user’s preferred settings when the car is unlocked. Also adjusts air conditioning settings.

When unlocking, releasing first the driver’s door, then the entire vehicle.
