Moving On

Well after nearly 2.5 years of X6 ownership I've decided to move on. Not an easy decision as I absolutely love the X6 and easily the best car I've owned but due to the change of job I'm now only doing a few thousand miles per year as appossed to 20k I useded to do and just can't justify to myself the car sitting on the drive doing next to nothing.

I'm taking a leap of faith and going electic. I have considered the i3 but have decided not to go this route as it's still an expensive car to be doing very little so will be going to Nissan and the Leaf. Nissan are doing some very cheap deals that will allow me a couple of years with the car and should it not work out then just walk away.( as in hand the car back, not from the car when it runs out of juice!)  ::)

I will look in from time to time and wish you all pleasent X'ing.

Dare I ask what the deals are then to sway you away from the i3?

The old guy over the road from me has one with the socket on the wall etc

He is about 85 (not that you would know) but still the chairman of his old Nissan dealership so has that and a Micra

Wicked sense of humour (has to have to have a leaf!)

He was telling me how nippy his Micra was and that it had a supercharger.

I thought he had lost his marbles completely until I looked it up and some of them do !!

He also has an XF..........

Seriously I would have one of these electric cars from commute to work (3 miles each way!) but they are just so expensive that they don't make sense for my use yet

£500 deposit, £159 a month for 24 months, (10000 miles pa) interest free on a PCP with guaranteed value circa £14k.  This is for the top of the range model with lots of bells and whistles.  As a guide, the i3 was £2000 deposit, £442 for 47 months (6000 miles pa) and a final payment of £9.9k this is the most basic model with only the rapid charger as an option.

As is normal with BMW in Belfast, offered £2k below guide on the car.  Nissan offered £2k above guide.

Nissan will also be launching a new Leaf in 2016 with (hopefully) better looks and a 50% increase in range.

Those figures look cheap on the leaf but if i had to get a leaf i would sooner go arriva day saver £0 deposit, £25 per week, no fuel and no milage restrictions, chauffuer driven and look better

WOW Don, that's certainly a change, going from an X6 40d to a Nissan Leaf, was it the 8V roar that tempted you ) ) )
Good luck with the new motor, don't forget to report back and give us your opinion on the all electric experience.

The dealer has discounted the car by some £4k plus Nissan are doing a £3200 deposit contribution. It really is a very good deal.
