Hi I have a a 2010 E70 3.0sd 10 Year Edition model presently fitted with BMW style 337 20 inch wheels and I have been looking around for a set of winter wheels and was wondering if the BMW style 209 18 inch wheels would fit as I have read inflicting messages about whether these 18 inch wheels would foul the disc brake assemblies or not.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Style 209 in 18" is a standard option for that car.

If I were you I would try one on as Some owners on other sites have complained that they won't fit over their front discs , they may not be standard size ! 19" are as cheap & won't catch maybe worth considering .
You can get them staggered or all the same size although BMW recommend all the same size 255/50/19 .

The SD did have bigger brakes so you will need to confirm 18s clear disks

I think that these are the style 209's that I run on my 3.0sd.  Tyres are 255/55/18.  Have also fitted spacers this year.

Thanks very much for all your responses and "squeaky2" that's exactly the style and size of wheel and size of tyre's I was looking at, so the picture was of great help. Thanks again.

If its any help too we were in Saint Gervais a couple of days after all the snow chaos that brought the alps to a stop.  The car was unstoppable (in a good way)  On snow I couldn't get the wheels to spin without giving it such a boot that id shoot off to fast  :)

Chalet was at the top of a hill.....guys next door had to leave their range rover half way up and their XC60 in a ditch.  No winter tyres or snow chains.  X5 had no problems at all  :)

Scored a set of OE 19" winter wheels and tyres (Bridgestone Blizzak RFTs with 6mm tread still remaining) off fleabay for £400  :) :). Went to collect them today and fitted them this afternoon. Not as nice looking as my staggered 20" (especially at the rear) and a bit noisier on the road but overall pleased to have them. If nothing else it saves wear on the summer tyres.

Those are the same as on my 40d.

They look tiny and sunk in the wheel arches but they do get you everywhere !
