Sorry guys...another Bluetooth thread
Hi Guys,
Not posted for some time, anyway I need your experts’ advice.
I am getting bored of creating CD’s like it’s the 90’s lol
I have an 03 E53, looking in the boot I can see the Bluetooth module.
I have CD changer/Sat Nav in the boot.
I do not have the phone cradle.
I do not want those Bluetooth FM transmitters, I live in London so the frequencies are pretty much used and the quality is poor.
How can I check if the module works. even if it does work, will it stream music ?
Could you advise me of the best way, hopefully cost effective way, of having Bluetooth in my car to stream music. I don’t really care for phone calls.
I was thinking I could do the following, please let me know if its viable:
Attach an AUX input cable from my monitor and feed it through to the glove compartment -http://www.i6automotive.co.uk/bmw-aux-c ... -monitors/
They also have a video on how to do it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkKTqBS0hu8
I then could attach an AUX Bluetooth receiver such as this - http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B ... ZIZ45GM7DH
And stream my music
Is this possible, if not please can you advise.
Thanks in advance.

First thing is no it won't stream music. No A2DP mode included. That didn't arrive until late 2009/10 on the E70/71, and never on the E53.
There should be a PIN code scrawled on the side of the Bluetooth module. If not, then a BMW Dealer will be able to tell you from the VIN as long as the module has not been replaced outside a Dealer network.
Not done any other streaming so can't help with the streamer tech.

Since you have Nav then you have the BM54 amp jobby.
You can get that modded for streaming I believe.
Someone on here has posted about it before.

No.
Richard has explained that on another post...
Cant remember the protocol that the unit hasn't got to enable this..
But you can get the amp module modified to do BT streaming apparently

I had firmware upgade, amp upgrade,RCA pre-outs and bluetooth streaming.
There is not much to see on the unit apart from rca phono leads and a 2/3mtr cable sticking out for bluetooth. Make sure that the bluetooth cable reaches well into the rear seating cabin for fast connection. Mine is tucked between the under one of the rear head rest for I can see its flashing light...
He also puts a 3D/Hologram Protective Security sticker on the unit to make sure his work has not been tampered with ... so can't get you pics of the inner components.
It appears that the Amp upgrade is ideal to Extend the life of the Amp in the unit. Prior to this upgrade I had to shell out £700 to bmw for a replacement BM54 when I somehow killed the unit while trying to tap into the rear speakers to feed an aftermarket Amp!. I am assuming that replacing he Amp now will be a cheap job if the blows again.
RCA- pre-outs - Its there ... if I feel the need to add an Amp to the system
iD3 MP3 TAGS - I disconnected my cd player years ago when I went the intravee II route (which I may be selling soon ), so have no idea what the (old/new) text looks like
Bluetooth works well though you have to crank the volume up which means you have to remember to turn volume back down when you change source.
only gripes are :-
(1) inability to re-connect following disconnection from the iphone if I am changing apps ... the only solution is to restart the car!
(2) failure to connect sometimes if OEM bluetooth is on OR Car key lingers in 'ON' position before starting the car
I have a feeling that this last 2 issues might be because the iphone is attempting connection to both the OEM & new Bluetooth Module and the OEM module makes a better grab for connection. So you might have to Turn off OEM bluetooth.
I also noticed that my Moto G was better at connection than my Iphone4s/6+
PS. Does anyone with OEM bluetooth and streaming upgrade have this issues?
