Not quite got an x5 yet, but as soon as our VW T4 camper sells ill be in one, i'm currently looking at the 4.6 is or even 4.8 if i can stretch that far but saying that ive started looking at later spec 3.0d's, i want an x5 ready for a good sized caravan and a track car for myself come late 2015/2016,
we also have an f20 1 series, and its the 1 series that's made me want an x5.

Read a few things on the v8's and diesels, is it hard to compare the two? i wont b doing a great amount of daily miles.

Hi and welcome to the forum from a fellow Lancastrian. You need to test drive both petrol and diesels.
I had a55 plate 3.0 D Sport and was impressed with how it got down the road. Also good on fuel and handled well for a big lump.

Thanks Horizon, your right i need to drive a few, i dont want to waste peoples time until camper is sold though

All depends on the mileage you do really I bought a diesel and I should have bought a petrol as we do little miles i was put off a 4.8 by a diesel owner my mistake so mine will be going in the new year for a petrol version.
